RCAHMS Scotlands Rural PastMoriarti was initially appointed to help design and develop a multimedia application and resource about the Edwardians which was initiated as a collaboration between The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) and North Lanarkshire Education Authority. This resource would take the form of an DVD that could be used in the classroom running on a PC/MAC connected to an interactive whiteboard. A key objective was to provide a teaching resource that allowed children to; interact with the resource and explore for themselves the history and life behind the Edwardians; support ‘A Curriculum for Excellence’, Scotland’s new curriculum that provides relevant, inspiring, and engaging education for every child and young person in Scotland. Following upon the success of the Edwardians DVD, Moriarti was then appointed to design and develop online, offline and multimedia materials for the 300th Anniversary of the Acts of the Union 1707. Moriarti produced the brand identity for the 300th Anniversary and a number of support materials including a website, exhibition panels and print materials to support the workshops and other events that were being run by the partnership of Government agencies. A major part of this project included the design and production of an interactive e-learning DVD-Rom that contained a wealth of information to help children of all ages understand the Union of Parliaments. The DVD resources include a digital booklet, downloadable teaching aides, audio and video as well as fun interactive games. A free copy of the DVD resource was provided to every primary and secondary school in Scotland. RCAHMS also appointed Moriarti to design the new web2.0 website for a 5 year project called Scotlands Rural Past. Scotland’s Rural Past is a five year project that supports local communities in investigating the remains of long abandoned settlements in their area.

It has a real forum and photo competitions and provides a fully managed CMS system for admin. Users can with RCAHMS approval create and manage their own projects allowing them to upload documents, images and add content to their project in order to maintain a project log.
